Side Effects of Ginseng

I became the uncanny victim of insomnia - after a wedding dinner.

A reminder to self has to be placed somewhere in the cavity of my brain. Never to eat ginseng related food ever again, especially when I have to work the very next day.

It was a crazy night. Then again, I thank God that He allowed it to happen on a Saturday night. I slept at 5am on a Sunday morning this weekend. I hope never to have such an experience ever again.

Ginseng is my nemesis. Period.

One Lazy Afternoon @ Labrador Park

Saw these 2 lovelies one afternoon. If only life allows me to sit pretty with my pal, and watch the world go by.

Trust the Gut Feel

One thing I learnt last week - trust my gut feel. Many things happened recently which I rather it not happen. Only if I just trust my gut feel!

I attended this talk once. It was a form of a motivational talk cum neuro-linguistic programming workshop. In that particular workshop, there were the open-minded, and there were the cynical. I was on the fence.

There was a concept that I took back from the workshop which stuck with me. In the 28 years of our lives, our body and mind has undergone so many events. Why is it that we can at times look at the sky, and in our gut, know whether it is going to rain? That's because the body has subconsciously been in such a situation countless of times. It is a sort of programming that has been done without our intentional effort. This is probably one of the ways I learnt how to explain my usage of gut feel.

There is a blessing to me this week. I was shielded from the whiplash of a particular "feedback". If I had chosen not to do something. This will not have occured. Nevertheless, it occured. I thank God for the hand of protection, that kept me from being entwined in a brawl among some top guns. This experience is something I went through time and again, and I know that it is not by chance that this happened. Thank God.

Love or Nothing

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

(extracted from the opening verses of 1 Corinthians 13)

Ever since Mdm Kwa passed away last Saturday, I religiously read every single article about her that I could get my hands on. Every single article more or less covered the same thing - she was MM's confidante, tower of strength, manager of his household.

Before the casket was covered, MM's kisses were what I remembered of the entire 4 days that she was placed there. The significance of his actions reminded me of the verses above. If I have done everything, given everything, but have not love, I gain nothing. MM, through his life, I would say, have probably contributed and gained more than most of us. But one thing prevails - love.

Sentosa in March

I know, this is late. I went to Sentosa in March, but I am only putting this up now. :P This is going to be very random.

This is called, busy-ness! Ha. Alright, actually, it's just pure procrastination. I guess, blogging takes commitment, and I am trying hard to regain that commitment to my blog.

I enjoyed Sentosa. It had been such a long time since I went around this little island and took time to smell the flowers and watch the new musical fountain. Something which I used to do a lot when I was in primary school!

Say "Hi" to the other merlion, who was not struck by lightning (touchwood). Don't blame me if it gets struck today.

Oh, and I realised that Sentosa has a lot of flowers! I didn't realise it previously, but now, I do. The flowers were in bloom and I can't help but keep snapping away at them. I never loved flowers so much, mainly because I am allergic to them. But on that very day, I realise how God adores beauty and they are reflected in how He designed flowers. He has the best colour combination ever! Loved this big lush pink bouquet of tiny flowers all lumped together in one big ball!

Random.

Orchids Appreciation

It's been ages since I have put anything on this dormant site. Many months has passed! In fact, 8 months! Gosh, time flies.

Recently, my colleague received an Orchid from his girlfriend. They agreed to have a gift exchange. She sent an orchid to the office, and he was shocked. It was no ordinary orchid, but one that needs tender loving care =p

Here's the photo, courtesy of fareastflora.com

Pretty right? It looks exactly like that! As he sits next to me, I also have the flower staring right back at me. =) Makes my otherwise boring place look better!

I have never been good with plants. For some reason or other, they decide that they should rest in peace in my hands. So just a word of caution here : Do NOT leave your plants under my care, unless you want to be sure that it'd disappear from your sight forever! keke

Life's very hectic. Hence, my post to remind all to take time to smile, breathe and smell the flowers.

Resuming my Postings

It has been such a long while since I blogged!

May till August, that's like three months! I recently came back from a Genting trip. I was shocked by the length of time taken to travel by bus up to Genting - 7 whopping hours!

Whilst there, I had an enjoyable time. Most importantly, grandma had an enjoyable time. It's such a joy to see her happy, at ease and just having her own fun. This trip, was one of the rare ones where Grandma posed and smiled for my camera!

Grandma had her nasi lemak on the second day. Made me smile whenever I see this photo.

She also had her fun of playing with the jackpot machine, and a great affinity with a particular jackpot machine with an old man picture in it. She kept getting the old man carrying the money tray! Old man lurves old woman. =p

Had a good time catching up with her sister too. I learnt many things from this trip. Especially on how to age gracefully. Plan for the old age, so that you can relax when it is time to relax. Work hard now, to enjoy later. The experiences that all these people I travelled with added up is an exorbitant number. They are all rich in a different sense - wealthy in their numerous lessons in life learnt.

Makes me wonder when I get that old, how much would I have to share with people in terms of my experiences in life? Will I also be that fun loving and life loving then?
